Fabulous Fêtes
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 02:50AM
Tara Shaw, of Tara Shaw Ltd in New Orleans, entertains with incredible style. She throws a fabulous fête in her warehouse to announce the arrival of new containers loaded with treasures from her shopping forays in Europe.
Fête is a French word meaning festival, celebration or party. Throwing your own fabulous fete is more about setting the "scene" than setting the table.
Entertaining can take on a completely different attitude with the arrival of Spring. Events tend to be more casual. Dining outdoors can be fun but if the weather doesn’t permit bring the outdoors in.
On The Veranda in Phoenix Arizona did an incredible job styling this outdoor dining pavilion.
Different size boxes were covered in gray linen to coordinate with the place settings.
The beautiful white flowers, gorgeous place settings, crystal chandelier, candles, linen slipcovered chairs, zinc tabletop, fabulous windows…
Just when you think it can't get any better than this,I found these images from At Home In Arkansas in my style files .Phil Cato with About Vase in Little Rock was part of a design team that styled this outdoor party.
The French ladderback chairs and linen tablecloths add just the right touch.
Floral arrangements and candles lend the perfect balance of color and whimsy.
Cato "planted" red gerbera daisies into the halves of miniature watermelons for a quick burst of color.
To create this dramatic arrangement, Cato hollowed out the top of a head of cauliflower and inserted a small vase to hold the small bouquet of spray roses.
I don't know about you, but these beautiful tablescapes inspire me to call up some friends and reconnect. Everything doesn't have to be as perfect as what I've shared here. A few special touches always makes your guests feel like they are loved. A little extra effort rarely goes unnoticed.
How about you? Do you enjoy entertaining? Do you think you could incorporate any of these ideas into a dinner party of your own? If not, contact us. We would be glad to help.
We both know you all have been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for us to announce our giveaway winner (haha!). We promise we won't keep you too much longer. We'll be announcing it this afternoon, so stay tuned!

Thanks for your visit, I'm happy to have discovered your blog through it! Love the table setting by On the Verandah, just beautiful!
How do I get on the guest lists?! I love to entertain but don't do it nearly enough. I especially love the use of vegetables in creating the centerpieces and the gray linen boxes. What a creative and simple idea.
Love that section with On The Veranda. The chandelier is to die for...and my new favorite floral embellishments are those lovely little napa cabbages.
