The design influences on antique coat of arms and furniture extend back through centuries. We are particularly drawn to them. When
and I are antiquing for ourselves or the shop we both make a beeline to anything with a crest on it. Recently I came across a source for incredible antique textiles, Fortuny fabrics and custom pillows while visiting a friends blog,
. You need to visit their site. They carry some really amazing things.
These antique coat of arms are 16th, 17th and 18th century pieces from Spain and Italy. They range in price from $750.00 to $2750.00. Out of my league , but a girl can surely dream! They are absolutely beautiful.
Aren't they all simply fabulous? Not sure of the sizes but can you just imagine them if large enough as wall hangings or on pillows for living room sofa or daybed? How about incorporated into some fabulous bedding or headboard with old velvet, or appliqued to the front of a large pleated fabric covered console or perhaps an ottoman with lots of really old trim and fringe?
Love this fabulous antique iron coat of arms plaque. Would be neat hanging or built in somewhere.
We particularly like crests painted on wood or metal like this vintage French piece.
Other images where crests or coat of arms have been used handsomely in the decor.
It doesn't happen very often, but we are having a huge warehouse sale right now. Everything in our inventory is on sale , so these old crests are included. E-mail me if you would like additional details.
We love the beauty and sense of history that vintage or antique crests lend to a space. It's another architectural element that adds a different shape and dimension, which means added interest. Old crests or coat of arms are another option for art. What do you think? What do you go on the "hunt" for when you are shopping for things to hang on your walls other than pictures/paintings or mirrors? Do you enjoy incorporating architectural pieces? It's your turn.
