Sister and I both love pretty benches and ottomans. They are so versatile. They add comfort and flexibility and are welcome in any room in the house. We're having three custom ottomans made right now to use in outdoor projects so we've been digging into our inspiration files. Thought you might enjoy a peek...
Shannon Bowers used two in this bedroom. I love the skirted bench near the window.
A large upholstered ottoman as a coffee table is a great idea in a room to break up some of the wood as Brittany Stiles did here. Love the nail head detailing on this one. The little curved bench is a great conversation piece.
Beautiful tufting and box pleats on this one. Image via A Thoughtful Eye.
One of our favorite things to do is mix ottomans and benches with chairs for dining. These are really pretty with the large single pleats and frog detailing. Is this not wonderful? Image via Griege

Marshall Clements in Little Rock sells these amazing ottomans they deisgn with antique textiles and trims. They are a work of art and can become a focal point in the room.
As you can see benches and ottomans add a lot of personality and versatility to indoor spaces. Why not do the same outside as well?
Have you shopped for outdoor furniture lately? It can be pretty depressing. Yes, there are some wonderful things being done by the very high end manufacturers right now that resemble indoor furniture but these pieces cost thousands of dollars and few can afford them.
When you step down to the more afforadable brands, it all begins to looks alike. Complete sets that don't mix and match well with anything.
Whether you've chosen wicker, wood or iron, don't buy the matching ottoman. Consider mixing it up with a pretty CUSTOM bench or ottoman upholstered in an outdoor fabric.
Outdoor spaces should be just as comfortable, pretty and inviting as the indoor ones I've shown today..With a little extra effort and creativity they can be.
The details on our projects are almost complete. Stay tuned for some fabulous outdoor transformations!
