It's so good to get back into blogging. We really appreciate the notes from readers that have missed having regular posts from us. Our lives are really busy so no promises on lengthy new posts every week...but we're going to try to keep you updated on the projects we are working on and other things of interest in the design world.
So...Here goes another before and after!
We recently did a major update on this client's living room and open dining area. We're all really happy with the results and will be continuing work in the TV room after Christmas.
Some BEFORE IMAGES....
The client had a pair of beautiful chests but not as much room on this side of the fireplace so the chest looks too tight. We moved the pair of chests and lamps to the Master bedroom for bedside tables. Perfect there.
You will see when we get to the after pictures that we opted to clear out this entire side of the room and went in with one large mirror, and a writing desk and chair...De-clutter is the name of our game.
We chose a new sofa and lighter coffee table. This sofa was moved downstairs and the coffee table will be just perfect in the television room.
We cleared this corner out and hung another piece of art the client had and added a bench. New cream linen window treatments were installed.
Too many accessories...You will see a cleaner simpler approach to the room when you get to the AFTER IMAGES.
The foyer...BEFORE...a beautiful console just needed different accessories.
The dining area BEFORE...We brought in lighter chairs and cleared out the armoire and chest and mirror...New window treatments to be installed...
Now for the AFTER PICTURES...
First ...a few side by side before and after shots...
Notice the flow in the finished design from one area to the next. Also how much lighter and calmer the rooms feel.
Our plan of attack when updating spaces such as this is first de-clutter. Get rid of all the excess and outdated accessories. If you don't do another thing this will make a huge difference. Then decide on furniture placement. Make changes until it is the best that it can be. Determine furnishings to be replaced or possibly painted and recovered. Hang art and accessorize...continuing to edit every step of the way.
Such a wonderful client. We're looking forward to phase two of this project.
What do you think?
It's your turn. Let's talk.
