This months BIO post is supposed to be about personal life challenges...It should be interesting to see what the various members of the group from all over the world come up with. The minute I read the email one word popped into my head...FOCUS. One of life's biggest challenges for me right now is FOCUS. It's my one word for 2014. We have a lot going on both personally and professionally and it's often very hard to stay focused.
But what is focus?
It's been defined as the central point of attention...In this fast paced world it's easy to lose that, huh?
When we are alone and have time to reflect we realize that it is important to prioritize and determine what our focus will be...Do you take that time?
“Without great solitude no serious work is possible.”
– Pablo Picasso
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is
– Lao Tzu
“It’s not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The
question is, what are we busy about?”
– Henry David Thoreau
“Most of what we say and do is not essential. If you
can eliminate it, you’ll have more time, and more
tranquillity. Ask yourself at every moment, ‘Is this
– Marcus Aurelius
We need a change of mind set.
The most important step is a realization that life is better when we move
at a slower, more relaxed pace, instead of hurrying and rushing and trying
to cram too much into every day. Instead, get the most out of every moment.
That thought is worth repeating. We need to get the most out of every moment rather than cramming too much into the day.
We need to practice mindfulness. Learn to live in the present, rather
than thinking so much about the future or the past. When we eat, fully appreciate our food
When we're with someone, be with them fully.
When we're walking, appreciate our surroundings, no matter where we are.
Life is better when unrushed. And given the fleeting
nature of this life, why waste even a moment by rushing through it?
Are you ready to face the challenge to slow down and live a more focused life with us in 2014?
It's your turn. Let's talk.
