Who doesn't love beautiful reclaimed wood floors?
Old or new beautiful hardwoods add warmth and character to your home. We are working on a project right now with new character grade hickory floors. The color palette in this home is pale grays, creams and blues...We played with stains on Friday and I'm thrilled with the color that we came up with.
From the bottom of the picture up...
Number ONE is dark walnut and the color that most builders would stain these floors. Way too brown for our palette...
Number TWO is too light. It's Classic Gray but has the look of pickled wood. We have used Classic Gray on white oak several times and its fabulous. But every different species of wood takes stain differently.
Number THREE is the winner. Five parts Classic Gray to one part Dark Walnut. I wish you could see the sample in person. It looks like a beautiful reclaimed wood floor. The imperfections in the character grade hickory and this beautiful faded gray brown color look time worn.
These floors are going to be awesome!
